The Gym of my Gym

For this week’s Unity feat. SteamVR project, I decided to build a whole new world. The world I created was a gym because I am interested in creating an AR experience for the weightroom of the gym to guide people about how to use machines properly, etc. I found some free gym assets on the Unity Asset Store, and incorporated some of them and resized them.
I took care to make sure all of the assets interacted properly (barbells and dumbbells sitting on bars correctly, etc. I also added a mirror material, and made one of the walls of the gym a mirror (cool, huh?).

Here is a walkthrough of my gym from the first player:

Now, the tough part, incorporating elements from SteamVR into the world. I mulled over having the player picking up weights/ dumbbells etc, but for simplicity sake as a Mac user (SteamVR is NOT compatible with Mac), I decided to add some transportation elements. In the above photos, you can see where I incorporated the “teleport point” on my machine before taking it into a PC. I then uploaded the project to the class server.
Will it actually work on VR? Stay tuned….
