You Can’t Spell Studio without “U”

This week, I explored the program Cinema 4D to animate a logo. Because I adore animation, I was interested to explore animation in a 3D space.
The learning curve was noticeable as each 3D modeling software each has its own set of key commands and diction and organization, and Cinema 4D was brand new to me.
We animated the CMStudio logo, which is a relatively geometric logo. Understanding the key commands in Cinema 4D, and how to create smooth movement was the hardest part for me. Using the “Dope Sheet” to change the movements from “Spline” to “Linear” was a huge leg up as far as allowing for a more even flow.

Adjusting the camera was also a learning process. When you enter render mode, you have to make sure the camera is pointed at the object the way you would like it to record.
Initially, I had the camera positioned to show above and below the plane-of-view where I had the logo start and end, which I wanted out-of-view. I had to adjust the camera and re-render the logo animation.

I also accidentally added an up and down key frame to the letter “U”, but I decided to pull a Bob Ross and call that a “happy accident”. It ended up giving the “U” extra personality. After all, you can’t spell Studio without “U”.
